Stargate Glossary

Memory recall device - Argosians

Memory recall device

A Tok'ra device used to stimulate memory. Its electrical pulses can be adjusted to produce different sensory responses, from recall under hypnosis to the projection of holographic images. Used with the Zatarc detector to tell false memories from real ones.

Ancients, The

A technologically advanced race of humans who were the original architects of the Stargate network. Having become omnipresent, ethereal beings, they now reside on a higher plane of existence.

Altairan androids

Duplicates of the SG-1 team members, created by Altair's sole inhabitant, Harlan. The team members' consciousness was implanted in their bodies. The androids were destroyed in their battle against Cronus, alongside SG-1.

Anise

Tok'ra archaeologist and scientist whose name means "noble strength". Her host is named Freya. Anise was researching the Atanik armband, which gives its wearer increased speed and strength.

Transport
rings

Work much like the Stargate, but transmit matter over shorter distances, through space or solid objects. Each set of transport rings has a sensor that detects where the other rings are, and makes the connection.

Antarctica

Frozen continent in Earth's Southern Hemisphere. A second Stargate was found there,

along with the frozen body of Aiyana, a member of the race of the Ancients.

Anteaus

A member of the Nox, one of the oldest and most advanced species in the galaxy. Anteaus and his family helped bring the members of SG-1 back to life after they were killed by Apophis.

Anubis

A powerful System Lord, banished by his peers for unspeakable crimes. He learned to Ascend, but was rejected by the Others and now exists as energy, trapped between two planes of existence. He is the greatest threat to both Earth and the other System Lords.

Apophis

One of the most powerful System Lords, brother and sworn enemy of Ra. He died of wounds inflicted by Sokar, but was revived in a sarcophagus and tortured once again.

Universal-range
audiovisual
communication device

Sphere-shaped Goa'uld device used for communication. It comes in different forms. Colonel O'Neill calls it the "little steel ball".

Repository of knowledge
of the Ancients

Built by the Ancients, this device can download their language and collective knowledge into the mind of another being.

Arkon

The name of the advocate chosen by the questors (defendants) to represent them during a Triad. A Triad is a Tollan judicial ceremony, similar to a trial on Earth. During the Triad of the Goa'uld Klorel, O'Neill was named Skaara's arkon.

Argos

A beautiful planet with a Mediterranean climate, also known as P3X-8596.

Argosians

Inhabitants of Argos, who call themselves "the Designated". They were brought to the planet by the Goa'uld Pelops to serve as test subjects in experiments on human evolution. As a result, their lifespan was fixed at one hundred days.

All the knowledge of the Ancients was downloaded into O'Neill's mind when he looked into the Repository

Apophis bears the scars of the torture he suffered at the hands of his rival, the System Lord Sokar

The System Lords address their followers using the universal-range audiovisual communication device

Anise, a Tok'ra scientist, has tender feelings for O'Neill.

He taught Teal'c to doubt the Goa'uld. He is a respected leader in the growing community of rebel Jaffa.

SG-1 analysis: Colonel O'Neill

Bra'tac is a damn good fighter, and Teal'c's dear old pal. That's enough for me! When we met this Jaffa on Chulak during M01.11, he didn't seem inclined to believe Teal'c, who said he could trust the SG-1 team. He insulted Sam, savagely bit Daniel's hand, and went for me. The guy may be over a hundred, but he sure can hit! Bra'tac's loyalty to Teal'c and his family is unshakeable. And you can't help admiring someone who's devoted his life to wiping out those damn snakeheads. He's saved our skins more than once. I'm glad all that energy and skill is on our side!
